Video Wig Review: Victoria by Jon Renau – New Fall 2012 Style!

After trying out both Victoria and Adriana from Renau, I am convinced that Wigs.com did the company a real disservice with their latest videos. I don’t know if it’s the color they chose or what, but both of these wigs looked like straw on the models’ heads and were just totally unappealing when I saw them. Of course I eventually tried them anyway, and I am so glad I did – they are both spectacular wigs.

Adriana is very glam and attention-getting, so it’s nice Renau threw Victoria into the mix as a hand-tied synthetic with a more toned-down, everyday style. It is simple, unassuming, and incredibly realistic looking. Be warned that once again the lacefront is dense, so if that puts you off you might steer away from darker shades, but personally I love a dense lacefront as it helps blend my bio hair into the hairline.

It’s late, and I’m very tired from working way too hard to finish grad school while slogging through a new job, but I couldn’t resist getting this review up tonight and, quite honestly, I am reluctant to take Victoria off to get ready for bed! It’s just that fabulous.

Video Review – New Wigs for Spring 2012: Nicki by Jon Renau in 30A27S4 (Shaded Peach)

I remember back when I posted that I wasn’t going to do too many more Spring 2012 wig reviews. Ha! I’ve found several others to try, most of which I have liked. This one, Nicki, is a very cute do, but on me it’s a bit of a don’t. In fact, I look alarmingly similar to this gal in it:

But that doesn’t mean you will. I just don’t look good in these heavy-bang bob styles. Great color though, and a great, light, fun wig!

Video Review – New Wigs for Spring 2012: Madison Gem by Louis Ferre in Color T32-6

Hmmmm – this style surprised me. It doesn’t look much like the pictures, or like the video at Wigs.com. It is much more ‘flippy’ around the bottom than I was expecting. The color, the movement, the monofilament top, the lacefront, the comfort of the cap – all still benefits of this wig. But the style is a wee bit of a letdown from the fabulousness of the first two Ferres I tried. I’d like it to possess less flip, and honestly, the longer I wear it the flippier it gets. It’s not bad,  but we’ll have to see if it ends up being a favorite like the other two.

Video Wig Review – Bodacious Bobs: Innuendo by Gabor in Color G4+ – Dark Chocolate Mist

I know I’ve mentioned this on the blog before, but one of  the things that has kept me addicted to buying wigs is the surprise factor of it all – just when you think you know exactly what styles are going to look good on you and that you no longer need to experiment, you pick something up that should not work on you at all and love how it looks on your head. Then, the next time you see a cute wig and immediately think, now I know that style won’t work on me, you think of that one wig that shouldn’t have worked but does, and you wonder if maybe, just maybe, you’re passing up on the next good thing by writing it off without trying.

Innuendo was such a wig for me. Nothing about this wig should work – the heavy bang, the short length, the choppy back angling into longer front pieces a la Rene of Paris’s Rianna– but darned if this one isn’t cute as hell anyway. It was a great work wig until I transitioned into the longer ones later in the semester, and a lot of people have reported liking it as well. A really cute short bob!

Video Wig Review – Bodacious Bobs: Nita by Jon Renau in Color 130/4

Nita is a very popular bob style from Jon Renau with a lace front, but no monofilament top, which keeps the cost down a bit. It is a very cute style, just not the best shape for my face.

Video Wig Review – Bodacious Bobs: High Society by Eva Gabor in Color GL2-6

That’s a ridiculous title but I love alliteration.

Since buying my third Haute I’ve been trying out several different bob styles; I will always love the Rene of Paris Gillian wig, but I’d also like to own one or two with a monofilament top (lace fronts, for me, are always optional). Plus the heat-stylable fiber on the Haute is letting me down, but I’ll talk more about that in a later post. For now let’s take a look at High Society: This is a great wig, but the lace front didn’t work out on me. I did eventually find a regular synthetic, monofilament top, lace front wig that was a winner, but I haven’t reviewed that one yet, so stay tuned!

Video Review – New Wigs for Spring 2012: Gisele by Jon Renau in 6F27

Unless some other Spring 2012 styles pop up, this will probably be the last video in this series that I do; this one along with both the Engima in Coffee Ombre and the Heart Throb by Raquel Welch are the only three I’ve seen so far that have sparked any interest in me. But while those two fell short, this one thrills me to pieces. Truth be told, I knew I would love it from the pictures as well as being pretty familiar with Jon Renau wigs and how they fit and wear. And it does not disappoint. I am seeing “Gisele by Jon Renau” turning up a lot in the Google searches that lead to my blog lately, so it looks like I am not the only one feeling this style, and although it’s what I would consider pricey, it’s worth every penny. Run, don’t walk, to your nearest online store to purchase this (well I guess you don’t run or walk to an internet store, but you know what I’m saying. Type. Type like the wind!). It is fabulous.
