Video Wig Review: Georgia by Noriko in Color Chocolate Swirl – New Fall 2012 Style!

It’s about time Noriko/Rene of Paris came out with some interesting new styles; even thought they only managed to crank out three for fall 2012, I like the two I’ve tried so far and am waiting to get the third one (Ivy) in.

Georgia is the first one I tried, and it’s a real winner. Right out of the box it reminded me a lot of Samantha, but when I saw it in the video the differences were more clear. It’s longer and a lot more layered than that Amore wig, and it’s a very modern and wearable cut.

Video Wig Review: Victoria by Jon Renau – New Fall 2012 Style!

After trying out both Victoria and Adriana from Renau, I am convinced that Wigs.com did the company a real disservice with their latest videos. I don’t know if it’s the color they chose or what, but both of these wigs looked like straw on the models’ heads and were just totally unappealing when I saw them. Of course I eventually tried them anyway, and I am so glad I did – they are both spectacular wigs.

Adriana is very glam and attention-getting, so it’s nice Renau threw Victoria into the mix as a hand-tied synthetic with a more toned-down, everyday style. It is simple, unassuming, and incredibly realistic looking. Be warned that once again the lacefront is dense, so if that puts you off you might steer away from darker shades, but personally I love a dense lacefront as it helps blend my bio hair into the hairline.

It’s late, and I’m very tired from working way too hard to finish grad school while slogging through a new job, but I couldn’t resist getting this review up tonight and, quite honestly, I am reluctant to take Victoria off to get ready for bed! It’s just that fabulous.

Video Wig Review: Adriana by Jon Renau in Shaded Peach (30A27S4) – New Fall 2012 Style

I was so surprised by this wig! From the wigs.com video and the advertising photos, I assumed this wig would just be Gisele with a hand-tied cap. It is not. The hair fiber is nothing like Gisele’s; it is much thicker and silkier. The hand tied cap is comfy and not huge on me unlike the Spicy I bought and ruined within four hours of purchasing because I tried to flat iron the hand-tied fiber. And speaking of Spicy, did I mention the best part, which is that this a regular synthetic and not heat-friendly? Awesome!

The lacefront is really dense and not sparse like Renaus tend to be, and it has a little widow’s peak curve like the Ferre lacefronts do. The color Shaded Peach looks great in a long wig, and it has some height in the crown. And the lace is cut very close to the knots, so it needs no trimming – also unusual. And I love the color – never seen the Shaded Peach in a long wig.

Totally excited by this one, and ready to try Victoria now – the hand-tied synthetic bob the line came out with at the same time they released this one. Way to go, Renau!

Video Wig Review: McKenzie by Envy in Color Dark Red – New Fall 2012 Style!

I was really excited about this wig based on the advertising photo, but the reality was disappointing. It’s OK, but I’ve taken to calling this MEH-Kenzie instead of McKenzie. I’d like it to be a little shorter, and a little straighter, and a little thinner. I’d basically like it to be Stevie by Amore instead of what it is!

Video Review – Discretion by Eva Gabor in Color GL 4-8

Here’s another short wig I’ve always been curious about. Finally saw it on a sale and decided to give it a try. It’s a cute one!

And I tried out a new lens on the camera this time that didn’t quite work. I’m blurry too much of the time here. I need to stick with the lens I used on the Shannon review.

Video Review – New Wigs for Spring 2012: Piper by Rene of Paris in Ginger Brown

I believe this style came out for Spring so that’s why I gave this post that title, even though we’re well past spring by now. Right now this style is exclusively sold on Wigs.com, and they list it at 30% off, which comes to around $63. I think it’s much cuter out of the box than it looks in the photos!

Video Review – Shannon by Rene of Paris in Color Ginger Brown

Here’s a cute little mid-length style that’s simple and easy to wear. And here also is my first attempt at using my Canon EOS 7D to film video!  I was so distracted and flustered over using new equipment that I forgot to film the inside of the cap, though.

Video Review – Felicity by Rene of Paris in Color Dark Chocolate

Well, I still can’t upload that Morgan review to Vimeo, but I decided to try uploading a completely different video and it worked fine. I know my video settings are the same for both vids, but for some reason Vimeo doesn’t want to accept Morgan as an “acceptable file format.” Whatever, Vimeo.

Anyway, here’s Felicity by Rene of Paris as uploaded to my Vimeo page. Tried this one long ago and it was awful, yet this one is really cute. Just one more way a wig-lover stays hooked on wigs. Even ones you’ve bought and rejected in the past might be cute when you buy them again later. Unfortunately that can also work in the reverse!

Video Review – New Wigs for Fall 2012: Layered Bob Wig by HairDo in Color R829S+

First of all I am pissed, because I finally found time to make four video reviews this evening, and Vimeo will only upload one to completion. They are having yet another glitch over there that is causing all sorts of uploading problems, not to mention causing a five minute video to take 53 minutes to upload. If it weren’t for the commenting cesspool that exists over on YouTube I swear I’d go back over there. But I hate the trollish overall atmosphere on that site, so I guess I’ll just suck it up and continue tolerate the ongoing problems of Vimeo.

Anyway, this is a new style from the HairDo line by Ken Paves, which is no longer associated with Jessica Simpson. The advertising photo of this wig is just awful and makes it look like a helmet, when in reality it’s a very pretty, modern bob. QVC.com also has a great video of this wig – if you can tolerate the banal banter of an informercial (I hit mute, quite honestly) – but they are charging more for it there than most places.

Someday, when Vimeo deals with its issues, I’ll upload a review of Morgan by Noriko as well as re-reviews of two Felicitys – the one by Gabor and the one by Rene of Paris.
